How book ciphers work

A book cipher hides a message as numbers that point into another text both people have, like a book, a poem, the Declaration of Independence, or the cache description itself. The number 12 might mean the 12th word, or the first letter of the 12th word, or the 12th letter. Some versions give a line and a word, like 3:5.

Paste the source text into the Source text box, paste the numbers as the input, then pick what the numbers mean. If the result is nonsense, try the other options, and check whether the puzzle counts from a particular paragraph or skips the title.
