Puzzles in layers

Many puzzle caches hide the answer under several codes at once: Base64 that reveals Morse, that spells a Vigenère message, that gives numbers to turn into letters. Decoding one layer at a time works, but it is easy to lose track, and a small mistake means starting again.

A recipe remembers the steps. Open any text tool, set it up the way you need, and press Add to recipe. Do the same for the next tool, and the next. Then open Recipes and paste the puzzle: CacheCrack runs it through every step in order and shows the result of each one, so you can see exactly where a layer goes wrong.

Tips

Tools that try every option, like Caesar with "Try all shifts," pass on their best-ranked result. Use the arrows to reorder steps, Edit to change a step's settings, and Save recipe to keep a chain for the next puzzle in a series.
