How Mayan numbers work

The Maya wrote numbers with just three symbols: a dot for 1, a bar for 5, and a shell for 0. Each numeral from 0 to 19 is a mix of up to four dots and three bars. So 7 is one bar and two dots, and 19 is three bars and four dots.

Bigger numbers are stacked, with each level worth 20 times the one below it, much like our digits are worth 10 times the next. Tap the numerals top to bottom and put a space between separate numbers. CacheCrack shows each numeral's value and what the stack adds up to. Puzzle caches often use Mayan numerals for the digits of coordinates.
