What is OpenStego?

OpenStego is a popular free program that hides a file inside a PNG or BMP image. It does not just use the lowest bits in order: it scatters them across the whole picture in a pattern set by your password, so even with no password the data is spread out and looks like nothing is there. The hidden file is usually compressed, and can be encrypted.

CacheCrack reads OpenStego images directly in your browser. Enter the password, or leave it blank if none was used, and it shows the hidden file's name, contents and a download button. It reads OpenStego's default AES-128 and AES-256 password encryption.

OpenStego can also encrypt with older DES. CacheCrack tells you when a file uses that but can only unlock the AES default. The Image analyzer checks PNGs for OpenStego automatically, with no password and common guesses.
