Projecting a waypoint

Some caches give a starting point and tell you to go a certain distance in a certain direction, like "250 feet at 45 degrees." Enter the start coordinate, the distance and the bearing, and CacheCrack gives you the new point.

Bearings are measured clockwise from true north, so 0 is north, 90 is east, 180 is south and 270 is west. Distances can be in feet, meters, yards, kilometers or miles. The math uses the WGS84 ellipsoid, the same model GPS receivers use, so the result lines up with what your device shows.

From N 42° 20.123 W 083° 03.456, 250 feet at 45° lands about 0.03 minutes north and 0.04 minutes east of the start.
